LANDSCAPES

When painting landscapes, Emily approaches her subject en plain air. The formal training in her painting career demands the focus and true feeling of a place to capture its essence by being on location. "There is something dramatic about painting a scene in which you are enveloped". The composition dictates a mood. The elements of weather, sunlight, movement of the waves, people or boats, and choosing that perfect spot to set up and start working is all encompassing. It’s a rigorous exercise in seeing and observing the environment creating a union of time and human connection with nature".
