PLANKS

This work is a color experiment exposing color to random environments.  The work is in flux and travels from public spaces to corporate offices,  private homes to outdoor gardens.  The installation temps the viewer to challenge perspectives and take note of their conditions within environments.  The paintings have a makeshift magnetism, a frequency, that invents new identities for every space it is placed.  Emily seeks to intervene color and routine. When the PLANKS are introduced to a new setting, the spontaneity creates a visual delight breaking monotony and opens new dimensions of mindful thinking about the environment one is in.

Planks are made from donated wood from a skate board company in San Diego, Ca.  The work has been in progress since 2000.  Oil, acrylic, re-purposed wood and nails compose the project.
